Mocha Tracking Data is way longer than the clip I tracked

Hello!

 

I tracked a clip that was unobscured counter on a machine. The frame size and frame rate are the same. I track and adjust the track in Mocha, then export the tracking data to a comp that will be lying above it to cover something up. The data exports as a way longer duration than the original clip.

 

Could I have any insights about what's happening? Tracks 73 and 74 on the screenshot. I'm not the most experienced with Mocha so I hope I'm just doing something wrong and this is not a wonky weird thing that's happening only to me.

Hi Steve,

 

A bit hard to tell from the screenshot but generally you want to do tracking/compositing contained in a separate comp that exactly matches the frame rate and resolution of the source footage you're using rather than floating around somewhere in edit. This will eliminate some of the potential problems you may create as user. Things like time streching can be one of the causes of mismatches. Inside your footage comp also make sure that your footage layer is trimmed to the exact in and out of the comp duration so when you're in Mocha you don't track more frames than you intend to use.

 

I hope that already helps you figuring it out. If it's something else behaving oddly, perhaps making a short clip to showcase your steps helps in tackling the issue.

Thank you for your response Shebbe! Both of those layers are in comps that do exactly match the frame rate and resolution and both layers are not under a time stretch. I comped the footage in the comp layer 74 to make sure the duration matched. Do the in and out points of the main composition matter? I've done other tracking and this has never mattered. I've had problems with scaling when having mis-matched comp sizes but this is just strange.

Still hard to see what you're doing. What I meant was that your Mocha effect should be on the source footage itself which should  reside in it's own comp that matches the desired in and out you wish to composite on and on that layer make sure that no time streching is applied and the frame rate and resolution matches. Let me know if that helps.
