Morph Tutorial- Issues with box showing up in a gaussian blur as a SQUARE shape?

I'm following this tutorial, but when i went to apply the gaussian blur, the text showed up blurred but as a square... like following the box of text as opposed to the text itself. I used Futura bold for the text. I'm not sure why it's doing this. I'll attaach what i'm seeing vs whats happening in the tutorial. Doing this all in After Effects. Any suggestions as to why I might be seeing this and how to fix it? I'm morphing one word into another as per the instruction of this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mu8Iku7xMA

Ben looks like he might have had an edit in the tutorial and when he adds Gaussian Blur, Repeat Edge Pixels is unchecked.  By default this is checked when you add it.  Unchecking should sort it.
