Motion Tile to one direction

Hi,

I want to do an infographic animation to show more then 5.000 people. To do this I created a sub comp with a single guy and tried to add all others with the motion tile effect and a little script. My problem is now that the effect repeats in both directions while I want to increase in number from the left to the right.

Is there a way to configure motion tile so that it just extends to the right (positive x-value)?

"CC RepeTile" has parameters for Expand Left, Expand Right, Expand Down and Expand Up.

Or you could continue to use Motion Tile and use a Solid as a Track Matte for the portion of the Layer with Motion Tile that you want to see.

You can always compensate with the center offset. That said, you probably might try a different effect for your replication like CC Kaleida, which has one-sided modes built in. Combining multiple instances of the effect can create similar patterns. Conversely, anything from AE's own Foam effect to third-party plug-ins liek Trapcode Form might be easier to control.
