.mov not loading in CC2018

Hello

I opened today a project I worked on in CC2017, and for some reasons some of the .mov files won't load. This is not an After Effects specific issue, since they won't either in Encoder or Premiere...

I've seen people complain about H264 files, but those have an animation codec, so I'm quite puzzled...

Here's the detailed info

OSX 10.12.6

CC 2018 (latest)

Error messages :

- File cannot be imported - this 'MooV' file is damaged or unsupported

- Source file has no importable streams. Please check that it is a valid video/audio file (86::1)

Again, everything's fine in CC2017...

Any ideas ?

Many thanks in advance..

I just checked with AAE 15.1.1 - it really cannot read Quicktime movies with Animation codec anymore...

As you're on a Mac, you could also use Quicktime player to re-code the file - just make sure you use good old Quicktime Player 7...

    Transcode it with HandBrake.

Open in 2017. Transcode to Prores4444 or to DPX. Make sure the transcode matches the original. Use it in 2018!

Adobe has dropped support for older Quicktime codecs in CC2018 15.1. Older .mov files will not open in AE.
