Hello

Whilst this request for information does not concern Ae software per se I would be grateful if someone could shed light on it. I have connected an HDMI cable from my MacBook Pro to a second monitor. As the project I am working on consists of over one hundred layers I would like to be able to use the second monitor to display the timeline while keeping the project and composition panels on the MacBook screen. I would like to know which part of the Mac Preferences section need to be amended and what additional connection device has to be added. YouTube videos mention dragging panels onto the second monitor but are not explicit about the preferences amendments or the brand and type of the connection device.

Many thanks

First you don't any special device to do that only HDMI cable and external screen, after you connect you second screen go to mac preferences/display and be sure you use 2 screen option and not mirror option, after that open your AE than unlock your composition window and drag it out of screen to become on your second screen.
