MP4 file does not preview audio on Mac

mp4 files don't have sound in after effects, mp3 does, on Mac? What To Do?

An MP4 file can have a lot of different encoding options. Where did your file come from? Do you hear any sound if you drop the MP4 in the Adobe Media Encoder, Premiere Pro, or Premiere Rush? If you can hear the audio in any of those apps, you can transcode (render) the file to a more production-friendly format like ProRez and use that file in After Effects.

 

After Effects will only render audio on the first two (left and right) audio channels. That is a rare problem, but it also requires transcoding or opening the video file in Adobe Audition to render the tracks on audio channel three and above.

I've tried preview thing, also audio hardware settings nothings working
