Everytime I import my MP4 videos in After Effects, It gets a bit glitchy and shows green or white lines that scatter all over the footage. Is there a reason why?

Flashing and corrupted frames can also be caused by variable frame rate footage from consumer devices like phones or tablets, corrupted MPEG compression, or an overloaded GPU. MP4 files commonly have one real frame with luminance and color, then a predicted color frame, then another predicted frame, then another real frame. The software is just guessing where the colors come from. It doesn't take very much for the system to foul up figuring out what colors go where. The problem is exacerbated when the footage has variable frame rates.

The first step is to open footage interpretation and check to see if the footage has a standard frame rate. If the frame rate is something like 23.953, then it is probably variable. You might be able to fix the problem by setting the frame rate to the industry standard of 23.976 fps.

If that does not fix the problem, you should try adding the footage to the Media Encoder and choosing Quicktime/Pro Rez HQ to render a production-quality Master file. Professionals never record using MP4 formats unless that is the only option available with the camera.

That looks like an issue with your GPU drivers. You can try turning off Hardware accelerated import (Preferences -> Import), purge your cache, and see if that helps.
