Question

Multiframe rendering very slow on M1 Mac, turning it off fixes issue

I was having TERRIBLE (worse than my old PC from 2011) performance in After Effects across multiple projects with a variety of effects. This is on a brand new Macbook Pro with a M1 Pro chip, fresh install of After Effects.

I eventually tried turning off multiframe rendering and got wayyyy faster previews and renders. Wondering if maybe it's an issue with M1s efficiency cores being used instead of performance cores? Coworker tested on his Mac Studio and had the same issue/fix. Can we get this looked into? Thanks!

Hi Hayden5EB3,

Thanks for writing in.

What's the exact version of After Effects you and your colleagues are using? Do you mind sharing more details about the issue? Is it the preview, interface, or something else? Have you tried running After Effects in Rosseta mode?

Let us know if that brings any change.

Thanks,

Nishu
