Multiple Animations on Single Text Layer

Hi All,

Fairly new to AfterEffects but not new to Adobe products.

I want to apply more than one effect into a single text layer but I can't figure it out. For example, I have created a sale graphic where the text uses a 'Fade In' animation but after a couple of seconds I want the '50%' layer to have a new animation where the size will be emphasised (repeatedly growing and shrinking or similar). Every line of text is on a separate layer so the '50%' has its own layer and can be manipulated individually. I'm guessing i can maybe insert some sort of new keyframe or something similar but i'm literally stumped as to what to do next?

I've trawled the tutorials and Google but can't seem to find the answer. Many thanks in advance for your help.

Seasons Greetings,

Dave

As you can see in my screenshot, each of the transformation properties is independent of each other, so you can animate each of them without worrying about the keyframes that you put on the other. So if you already made a Fade In (position) animation in the same Layer you can add keyframes to animate the size (scale) of your graphic. This you can do with the 5 transformation properties in the same Layer, at any time of your Timeline.

Thanks @byroncortezh ,

That's really helpful. I'm guessing if i want my text to now bulge i'd need a new keyframe in scale for every change (e.g. 70%, 130%, 70%, 130%,100%)?

I think i'm starting to understand it. I guess i just didn't know if i could get a quick fix and import a second animation preset into the layer.

That's right, one for each change.

And yes, you can add several presets in the same Layer.
