my 3D camera traker is not working in after effects

Whenever I apply 3D animation to any of my videos, it gets stuck at the 'initializing' stage and doesn't proceed any further.

I have a macbook 2023 that runs Tahoe 26.2, 16 MB ram. Have AE 2026 26.5.0. I have a short 10 second clip just as a test. Have tried temporarily disabling third-party extensions, have emptied cache & memory.

It is stuck on Initializing and eventually gives an error message.

Thanks for the details. Since Safe Mode and cache clear haven't helped, and even a 10-second test clip fails to initialize, this is likely a 26.5-specific issue on your setup.

A few things that would help:

1. What is the exact error message you eventually get? A screenshot would help.

2. Your Mac chip (M1, M2, M3, M4?).

3. What's the format/codec of your test clip (H.264 MP4, HEVC MOV, ProRes, etc.)?

I have the same issue. Have tried several online tips and fixes and nothing works. Have tried with a 6 second clip as well and it’s stuck on initializing. Very frustrating

Hi there, thanks for reaching out.

Just to confirm, by "3D animation" do you mean the 3D Camera Tracker?

If yes, a few things worth trying:

1. Let it run longer. On longer or higher-resolution footage, the "initializing" phase can take several minutes even on fast machines.

2. Update your GPU driver from the manufacturer's site.

3. Clear the media cache. Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache.

4. Test with a short clip. Try applying the tracker to a brand new 5–10 second clip in a fresh composition. If that works, the issue could be with your original footage.

A few details that would help:

- Your exact AE version (Help > About) and OS.

- The format, resolution, and duration of the footage you're trying to track.

- Your GPU and CPU specs.
