My .aep file won't open

Hey, I just downloaded the messenger template. I followed the instructions, downloaded the fonts, but now everytime I try to launch the .aep file, I get this notice from Adobe saying I can't open it. I've tried deleting the file and re-dowloading it severl times now and it still won't work. Has this happened to anyone before? How do I fix it?

The file extension *.aep is somehow liked to Adobe Acrobat Reader on your system. So Acrobat Reader tries to open an After Effects Project, which doesn't work because Acrobat Reader can just open PDFs.

I don't know Mac well, but in Windows, we can right click on a file and say "open with..." and choose the correct software alongside as saying something like "use always this app for this type of file". I'm sure there is something on your side, too.
