Question

My transitions keep glitching after export. How do I fix this?

So, I've made a 1080p, 30 fps, 60 second video with about 20 clips, 20 transitions, and a music track. Nothing too fancy has been done. When I preview the video, its fine, no glitches. But as soon as I export it through Adobe After Effects or Adobe Media Encoder, it freezes for a couple of seconds at half the transitions.

Version & Hardware Details:

I was having problems exporting with After Effects 2018 and Adobe Media Encoder 2018, so Adobe moved me back to the 2017 versions, and the export worked fine for that project. So for this new project I am using the 2017 versions.

My MacBook has the latest OS installed, with 16gb of RAM, and still 80gb of free space on the hard drive.

What is the format and codec of the files you are rendering?

Rendering to an uncompressed or high data-rate file format can create files which are simply too large to play back from conventional hard drives.  Often these files will stutter or freeze during playback, particularly during visually busy transitions or effect sequences.

To test this, send your output to Adobe Media Encoder and use the H264 Match Source - High Bitrate preset.    This will create a good quality preview file that most hard drives can reliably play.

Let us know the result.

No luck. Thanks anyway. I'm guessing it's the software, as that was the reason it broke last time. So I will need Adobe to look at it. Thanks anyway.

Without exact render settings and info on the types of foot6age and transitions nobody can tell you much. Start by disabling hardware-accelerated encoding in AME.

I'm afraid this didn't work, but thank you. I'm just going to wait until tomorrow and then contact Adobe Support.
