Need text stroked with brush.....

I have created text in Photoshop with a special stroke, per a client's request.  They love it. I need the text to animate into an After Effects comp character-at-a-time.

I can't find a way to create this text look in After Effects.  The only solutions I've come up with are:

1) Create 10 images with Photoshop ("T", "TH", "THE".....)

2) Animate a mask to reveal character-at-a-time

Thoughts?

Then import that Photoshop layer into AE, add a mask, and animate the mask using "Hold" keyframes, it will take couple of minutes only

First convert the text into editable text by right click, create, convert to editable text. Then in the effects and presets panel add the typewriter preset. Adjust keyframes to taste.

That won't work.  The process in Photoshop requires rasterizing.

How did you create the stroke in PS? You can use stroke in the text panel in Ae, or you can set the fill opacity to 0 percent and use a layer style stroke (same as in Ps) - in both cases it will be vector text with a stroke and no fill so it doesn't have to be rasterized.

Worst case, keep it rasterized and one layer and you can use a mask with hold keyframes letter by letter but I don't think that's necessary.

How do you want it to be animated exactly, like a typewriter?

That would be the simplest animation that would work.
