New AE behavior: Keyframes outside of Main Timeline don’t respond

Hello Everyone,

I don't know why this is happening now but I feel that they've changed the behavior of keyframes that go beyond the timeline. Everyday I would use scripts that would affect something out of the timeline, and objects would animate accordingly. In updating. My after effects behaves differently; am I misconceiving. Or is there a way to make it behave the same way.
for reference I'm using version 24.2.1
