New Mac Studio - how much memory?

So the my purchase of a new Mac Studio is imminent but...

 

How much would you say is enough memory on a Apple Silicon Mac for pro use of AE? I currently have an Intel based iMac with 64 Gigs of memory and I seem to run out of it constantly. I work with 4K+ comp sizes so memory is everything and you know AE, it will eat up everything it's been given.

 

Since M3/M4 use unified memory, I'm thinking 96 Gigs is the closest thing without sacrifices. Am I wrong about this? What's your experience?

I am using M2 Max with 64 GB and never run out of memory so far while using PS,Ai, Ae and Pr simultaneously, I usually check the activity monitor to check memory usage, sometimes the memory pressure is kind of high.

 

For me, 64GB is fairly sufficient, but if budget is not a concern, I recommend going for 96 - 128GB.

In my case, 64GB is kind of enough however I would recommend 128 if there is no budget limit.

But how large are your projects and comps? Staying in HD res is not a problem but I have to deal with something like 6000x4000 pix and dozens, occasionally hundreds of layers almost daily.

 

I guess my real question is: have you noticed a significant change in memory consumption after the Intel-Apple Silicon transition?
