Question

New to After Effects

Hi guys, just a quick question, I'm creating a composition from an .ai imported file which has multiple layers. When I bring it in to AE it lands as everything is centred on the artboard, so each letter of each word is basically on top of each other and not as it should be as a word. I want to be able to animate each letter to appear with an effect. Does this make sense?

TIA - Geoff

I would bet that you imported as a composition retaining layer size, but instead of opening the new composition AE automatically created, you grabbed all of the AI layers in the new folder and added them to a new comp. It is a common mistake.

Check the import settings in the dialog. It makes a difference if you import as cropped layers or to comp size. You may want to read the online help on such basics.
