Question

New to creating animations for Instagram Reels, and I unsure what size to make my body copy text?

Hello, I am creating motion graphics animations for Instagram Reels for my client. I am the only designer and this is my first time I am doing animations for social media and I have a hard time trying to get some feedback on anything related to social media that isn't for 1920 x 1080.  I am creating each of my storyboards layout with all my visuals, backgrounds, text etc. in Illustrator to import it to After Effects. What I am asking is if anybody has designed Instagram Reels before, could I please help me out? Any feedback would be very helpful to me. The format I am working with is 1080 x 1920 px, and it is 9:16 aspect ratio that is vertical. I can't seem to find any info online on what font point size you should be using for the  body copy text and headline title text in After Effects. I don't want to make my text size too small, too big, or not readable for each animation in AE. I am doing the best I can on my own but this process is taking longer than I usually do. If you have any info I would appriciate it very much.

Best,

CJ

30 pixels minimum for the smallest bit of text. The rest doesn't matter much. You just have to keep in mind that most content on social media sites will never be shown at full resolution and always also be re-compressed on upload. What looks good on your computer can still look awful. Bigger fonts therefore should be preferred (70 pixels and up) so they're still readable on scaled down video. Also stay away from the usual mistakes like using too much text, skinny fonts and so on. People look at this stuff for two seconds and read seven to nine words before clicking away if it's not interesting.
