There is no audio playing through my headset, but yet the audio visualizer is showing audio playing. I have set the right audio map and all. I tried ram preview. I've tried to look at other forum posts and nothing worked. This occurs on all versions.

I can’t find that setting.

Nevermind.   It just occurred to me whether or not AE even supports surround sound.  I searched the help and discovered it does not.

I'm not exactly sure how surround sound functions in headphones so maybe it's not true surround sound and it could work.

So basically confirm that your headphones are working by installing any required drivers and setting computers audio preferences to in fact USE those drivers to drive audio.  If you're not sure how to do that check the instructions that came the headphones to learn how to set them up.  If you then fire up AE and there is no sound then it's because AE does not support surround sound.  Audition does, so maybe test it there.

If you are on a PC you might need to install drivers for the headset.

If you are on a Mac you are sorted as OS X has all the drivers u need

You need to do this BEFORE you start AE.

Set your global sound output preference on Windows or OS X to your headset.

Play anything through VLC and see if you are hearing anything. If you are, all good to go.

If not throw your headset in the bin and buy an Artemis G933 (just kidding)

Now start AE, set AE's sound output to the headphone

Also just wondering what this is:

"but yet the audio visualizer is showing audio playing"

What audio visualizer are you talking about?

Let me know

In Prefs if you choose audio hardware then choose the drop-down for Default Output do you see your headphones listed as a separate device in addition to your speakers or other output. If you do then you will have to select them there.

Good call.  They said they'd chosen the right path so assumed this setting was correct but you never know.

Do you have audio enabled in the preview panel?

Yes.

Is the problem isolated to your headset or do your speakers not work as well? ALso did stop working suddenly or has it never worked?
