No motion blur when animating shape path on 3D shape layer

Hello,

I have a rectangle. And I have animated the "Size" property under "Rectangle Path 1", very basic. You can see it in the pictures. I also have enabled motion blur which works all fine but just as long as the layer is a 2D layer. As soon as I click the 3D icon on the layer the motion blur is gone. I do nothing except changing the layer from 2D to 3D.

 

 

I tested the same with the "Scale" property under "Transform". There I get the motion blur both with the layer being 2D as well as 3D.

 

  

 

But because I want to add rounded corners to the rectangle I have to animate it with the "Size" property to not distort the round corners.

How to solve this?

 

Edit: I want to make the animated 3D shape layer an adjustment layer in the end. That means I can't use CC Force Motion Blur because that would affect not the shape layer but everything beneath it. 

 

AE version: 24.2.1

When animating shape paths on a 3D shape layer in After Effects, you might encounter issues with motion blur.

Ensure that motion blur is enabled for both the layer and the composition. Press F4 on your keyboard to reveal the switches column. Check if the motion blur switch is active for the layer. Verify that the layer’s motion blur settings are correctly configured.

Motion blur is not available for 3D layers with the Cinema 4D (C4D) rendering option. If you’re using the C4D rendering option, consider using an adjustment layer with Pixel Motion Blur or CC Force Motion Blur turned on to achieve motion blur for 3D layers. Alternatively, switch to the Classic 3D rendering option, which supports motion blur for 3D layers. 

If you’re working with Ray-Traced 3D layers, pre-compose the layer in a Ray-Traced 3D composition. In the pre-comp, turn off motion blur and include the camera and lights if needed. Change the main composition to Classic rendering and use CC Force Motion Blur to achieve a motion blur for the Ray-Traced layers.

Motion blur is checked for all the layers as well as in the comp settings.

Using Classic 3D renderer.

No ray-tracing here.

 

I think the issue is that as soon as I turn the shape layer into an adjustment layer, the layers' bounding box becomes a mask. That means the motion blur is there but just cut off due to the shape layer ending at the edges of the shape. But that would also not explain why the layer cuts the motion blur off only when it's 3D, if that's the case it should also be cut off when it's 2D.

It might work tho if I add a mask that is bigger than the shape and set it to "Add". Will try that later.
