Question

No RAM preview at all

I was working on a pretty big animation project (also due in a few days) and all of a sudden I am not getting any RAM preview on any of my after effects projects. Not just the project I'm working on, if I go back to much smaller older projects I have no preview either. It moves along the time-line as if it's playing but nothing in the preview window moves. I've dedicated as much ram to AE as I possibly can. Everything else on my PC is running fine. This problem happened completely suddenly. One minute working fine, the next nothing. Is there anything I might have accidentally toggled on or off to cause this?

I'm pretty amateur with after effects but I've never seen this before. Any suggestions of ANYTHING I can try to fix this?

3.4 GHz intel processor

8 GB ram

GTX 770 4gig GPU

Hi Mindedede,
Are you still experiencing this issue? What kind of footage are you trying to preview? Let us know if you need more assistance or how you solved the issue.

Thanks,

Purge all memory & caches.

Double your amount of RAM if you're serious about using AE.

This doesn't work in this case. Same problems. Also giving me the "need 2 frames for playback" nonsense. I have been using AE since 1999. Pretty new Mac Pro 2017 edition - slow as can be- unworkable. All purging has been done. Still sucks. No other applications open, restarted multiple times... still SLOW or nonexistent RAM preview with now constant "need 2 frames for playback" - ugh.

Did everything: allocated more RAM, I did every single thing on the list. Even ran disk utility, disk is fine. Still nada.
