Notify When Queue Completes - No Mobile Notification

In After Effects, there’s an option called “Notify when queue completes” when rendering.
But I’m not sure how to use it, especially to get notifications on my phone.

I checked the Creative Cloud mobile app, but it looks like the mobile version has been discontinued by Adobe, so I can’t receive any notifications through that.

Is there any way to make this feature work, or is there an alternative method to get a notification on my phone when rendering is finished?

Thanks in advance!

This stuck with me and I ended up making a tutorial to explain how to set up Google Drive and Zapier to send an email when a render is complete:

I'd recently been wondering the same thing and assumed I needed to interact more with the app, but it seems you're right.  I still have the app on my phone and inside it, there are notifications, but yeah, I'm not getting push notifications either.

There is a script included in AE (File > Scripts) called Render and Email.  Add your comp to the render queue, then run the script instead of rendering - and that should send you an email when the render is done.  But you do need your own SMTP server.

Alternatively, if you fancy dabbling, you could create a script to run a Mac or Windows notification.

Or you couild sign up to a service like Pushover or Zapier and have an AE script interact with that.

I was intrigued by the Zapier idea, so I decided to try it out for myself.

  • I set up a folder in Google Drive (and I'm using Google Drive Sync)
  • I then created a zapier account and a zap to look at this folder for new files and then send an email
  • Then I rendered a file to this folder.  After a minute or so, the file is synced to Google Drive and about 30 seconds later an email was sent to me.
