object matte tool giving stepping results

i am using  object matte to roto a person (in front of a greenscreen). the initial frame looks ok. but as soon as it starts propagating, the lines become wavy/stepping as in the image below. I had it on other footage as well. but on some other footage it works well. Does anyone have the same issue? ideas to get around it? that tool is useless this way. project is 32bit, Footage is 4,5k,. btw. Thanks for advice.

    Hi TillP, a few thoughts:

    1. Follow up the Object Matte with Refine Edge tool. That effect is specifically designed to smooth the propagated edges. Applied on top of Object Matte, it should resolve the stepping you're seeing.

    2. Adjust the setting of the Object Matte effect in the Effect Controls panel.

    3. For green screen work specifically, Object Matte is often not the best choice. Keylight was designed for chroma extraction and generally produces cleaner keys with less compute. Here's a tutorial that should help: https://adobe.ly/4i2rnbl
