Oddly bug report

Hey, guys!

This week I´ve beens truggling with an annoying bug that happens out of the blue!

Here´s the thing:

When I´m working - any project, light or heavy comps - suddenly, anything except menu and menu commands become unclickable.
I just can´t select anything on the interface except menu+commands so I´m able to save the project and exit, then restart and work again.
But its a very annoying bug not to mention that slows down your productivity a lot!

 

Anyone had experienced this yet? Any help?

Here´s the specs:

 

Intel (R) Core i7-8700 CPU

3.20Ghz - RAM Memory 16gb

WIndows 10

AE version 17.5.0 (Latest update from CC)

 

I´ve noticed a trigger for this: Editing text layers.

 

Mostly when I duplicate an already set text layer and try to modify the text input.

But it seems to be random. This not happens in the first text copy.

 

About third-party plugins, yes there are some on my machine but I used to work normally, as usual before so I think there´s nothing related to them.

 

I use 2 monitors for display. For a long time now.
Again, this can´t be the cause as they´re ok before, right?

 

I´m writing here right in the moment that I can´t keep working due to another partial freeze.

Well, I think its time to roll back to a previous - working - version of AE...

It´s so stressfull to try to cope with this issue when time is crucial to deliver my jobs.

Helloooo!

 

These days in silence says everything, eh?
Well, about six days since I´ve tried the "stepback solution" - AE rolled back to version 17.0 - and everything go back to regular use, working like a charm...


Now, today I just can´t resist to the appeal of Adobe CC notifications teasing me: After Effects update! "What can go wrong?" ... This update maybe fix the bug!! Yay!

 

So why not? Let´s go! ... Ae updated, started, project opened... and after 3min of work? Freeze! Like reported here before!
Now I can say that is absolutely 100% AE latest version related!

Well... Time to enter the time machine again... See you in the past!

Hi versianni,

 

Sorry for your issue with After Effects. As Mylenium mentioned, we'd need more information to troubleshoot the issue properly.

Have you installed any third-party plug-in for After Effects? If so, try removing them and see if that brings any change.

Let us know how it goes.

    Are you working on a multiple display system?  If so, try disconnecting all but the main display and see if the problem still occurs.

     

    Also make sure a hidden error message or dialog box is not blocking user input from AE.

      Without any system information and otehr details nobody can tell you much. However, a common cause for this appear to be the various online functions trying to establish connections and produce or update panels (which then get locked or never appear), so maybe onsider turning this tuff off in AE and the CC app.
