Opening old projects the media says it isn't supported. Event if you try replacing it.

I am running mac os 26.5.1, and since the point one update, any project that has to be converted from an older version of After Effects, the media will say it’s missing. When trying to replace the missing media by pointing to the missing file, it says Can’t import, found no matches for the selected file.

If I open and resave every media file, it will import.

It was every file format. They were made with photoshop or Illustrator. I think it was something that happened with the .1 install that didn’t go correctly. I erased my mac and did a complete clean install, brought nothing back from the timemachine backup, and that fixed the problem.

Hi midlandvideo, thanks for the report and sorry for the delayed response.

To investigate this properly, a few specifics would help:

    1. Your exact After Effects version (Help > About After Effects).

    2. What file types are affected? (JPG, PNG, TIFF, MOV, MP4, PSD, AI — all of them, or specific formats?)

    3. What apps did you originally save those files from? Also, When you re-save a file, what app are you opening it in to do that?

    4. The exact error message text (a screenshot would be ideal).

    5. From which older AE version are the projects being converted?

If possible, a sample of one of the original files (the one that fails) along with the re-saved version would help engineering compare what's different. Feel free to DM if you'd rather not share publicly.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Thanks,

    Nishu
