Hello, i'm having a problem where during my preview the clips overlap. This doesnt come out during the final render but its really bothering me because i want to know what it looks like without the glitch. I'm using AE 2021.

The likely causes are that this is a blended frame due to long-GOP source footage or a pre-existing cut in interlaced source footage that has not had the 3:2 pulldown removed (or has it removed at the wrong cadence).

If you select the source footage in the Project panel and take a screenshot of the Poster Preview at the top where it shows a thumbnail, the filename, the frame rate, and the duration, that will be helpful.

If it's a blended frame due to long-GOP source footage, you could transcode the source footage to ProRes 422 LT outside of After Effects, maybe even with After Effects, and then use File > Replace Footage to swap out the current file for the new one.

If it's a pre-existing cut in interlaced source footage that has not had the 3:2 pulldown removed. you can go into the Interpret Footage dialog box and remove the 3:2 pulldown.  There are five cadence options for whole frames (W) and split frames (S), so you may have to try more than once while checking the source footage at multiple pre-existing edit points.  Also, if working in a Composition that's running at 29.97 frames per second, you'll have to change the Comp frame rate to 23.976.

I've moved this from the Using the Community forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the After Effects forum so that proper help can be offered.
