Panasonic SDR S26 SD footage cropped in After Effects

I have been editing clips from my Panasonic SDR S26 and realised the right side is being cropped out of all the footage in AE. I have tried different composition and interpret footage settings and I'm really stuck. Would appreciate any help. The files are .mpgs and when I open them in quicktime they are squished but the whole frame is included, so I know that the right side of the footage is there. I've provided a couple of images but if you need any more info please let me know.

Your pixel aspect ratio is set to PAL. When you select the footage in the Project Panel and choose the File/Interpret Footage menu, what Pixel Aspect ratio is showing for the footage? Neither of your screenshots shows an undistorted image, so both interpolations are incorrect.

I've attached a screenshot here of the interpret footage menu for the footage, I've tried a few different pixel aspect ratios here and they seem to just stretch and squash the footage but still having the right side cropped out. I hope that makes sense

Are you dragging your footage onto the new composition button in the project panel to create the comp?
