When I parent a shape layer (or ofher types of media) to another shape layer child shape layer disapeares. When I unparent it it reappears.

So others will know, the OP selected Track Matte from the Switches column instead of Parent from the Parent/Link column. It is a common mistake because the columns look a little bit similar if you don't carefully read the Column Heading.
