PASSES COMPOSITING.

Hello,

adobe community members

i am having a problem related to after effect passes compositing. what happened to me is, i am being taught passes compositing like 1.diffuse 2.ambient occlusion so on and changing their blending modes to add or multiply,

But the problem is i want to know the work of passes and understand the passes (types of passes).

IF THERE IS ANYBODY CAN MAKE ME UNDERSTAND ALL THE PASSES (or you can send me any link{video,website,que/ans} where i can learn passes compositing easily) , I WOULD BE GLAD .

thank you.

Correct answer Mylenium

Simple answer: There is no genaralized formula or workflow. It all comes down to how 3D programs generate those passes in the first place and how they need to be layered to re-create the "beauty pass", i.e. the combined overall shading of the renderer. Depending on the shading model used, this can be completely different every time, so rather than looking for an all out answer, look up tutorials that explain this in the context of the 3D program you are actualyl using. This really has very little to do with AE.

I agree with Mylenium, Look for Multi-pass compositing After Effects. many tutorials to go around. I would focus on professional authors like the ones you can find on Lynda.com.
