Pasting clips from Premiere into After Effects timeline is encasing all clips in precomps

Question

This is a new issue between 2024 and 2025 — when I copy from premiere timeline and paste into after effects it is encasing every clip copied into individual precomps. I want to keep files as native as possible between the two program's timelines.

Is there a way to turn off this aut-enveloping of pasted files? (I would love to ask an adobe tech support person if this is a new intended behavior... and if so please don't. but since adobe has hidden all of their methods for contacting support — pushing all of us into this virtual lord of the flies system... i'm not holding my breath)

I went back and checked AE 24.6.6 and Prem 24.6.5 — speed ramps, motion changes do not cause an automatic precomp in AE but if I copy a clip w scale to frame size it will precomp when pasted into after effects

Thanks for trying. I checked with the product team. According to them, this is the only way to get the Scale to Frame Size from Premiere Pro to After Effects. It seems to be working as expected. Sorry that it might be inconvenient.

Thanks for reaching out. I just tried it on my end and I am not able to reproduce the issue. It'll paste all the clips as clips, not as precomps. Could you tell us more about your setup? What's the version of After Effects and Premiere Pro you're using? Are you on MacOS or Windows?
