Question

PC too slow?

Hi,

When I edit music videos, I always encounter the issue of the music running a bit too fast. After a few seconds, After Effects realizes this and reduces the speed of the music (which sounds like slow-motion), and then it continues at the regular pace. I always have to wait for the pre-rendering to finish with each change, which can be very time-consuming.

My system specs are:
Windows 10
32GB RAM
NVIDIA Ge Force RTX 3060
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core

I've already increased the RAM and set the CPU to 25% in the settings. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Sven

Unfortunately, you're hitting a common problem with users, After Effects is not a non-linear editor and is not designed for perfect playback.  In your preview settings, if you set the preview to skip frames, I've found AE does much better at keeping up during preview.

Yes, with CTRL and mouse moving, it works great, but it's annoying and inconvenient

Check your audio buffer size in the preferences and check your audio drivers as well.

The Latency is 200 ms and the output is System Default. This should be ok
