Performance Issues with Adobe After Effects & Premiere Pro

Hi,

I’m currently using Adobe After Effects, and I’ve noticed that the performance is quite laggy. I’m wondering if it’s normal for a 4K video (581MB file size) to take around 45 minutes and 31 seconds to render.

Here are my PC specifications:

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060 8GB

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-12700

  • RAM: 48GB (4533MT/s)

  • Motherboard: B760M

  • Storage: 1TB M.2 SSD + 1TB SSD

I’d really appreciate your insight on whether this rendering time is normal or if something might be causing the sluggish performance. I’m feeling quite frustrated because my PC doesn’t seem to be delivering the expected performance, which is making me hesitant about fully committing to Adobe products.

I’ve already tried several optimizations, including adjusting 3D graphics settings, editing tool preferences, and seeking advice from friends, but they all say my PC should be more than capable of handling After Effects and Premiere Pro. However, I’m still experiencing lag, delays in effect adjustments, and sluggish rendering times, even in Premiere Pro.

Could you please give me direct and honest advice? Do I need to upgrade my CPU, add more RAM, or adjust specific settings? I’d also be happy to share a performance screenshot during rendering if that helps.

Looking forward to your recommendations. Thank you!

    Hi Van1997,

Sorry for the poor experience. The total export time can depend on your composition settings, effects used, and export settings. Please let me know if this happens with specific export settings. Please also share some details on your project (Bit Depth, effects used, frame size, frame rate, source file type, and total number of layers).

    Thanks,

    Ishan

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
