Question

Plain video playback in compositing used to be realtime, but not anymore since v22.4 and now v23 too

Hi all, I'm experiencing an odd issue: plain video playback in a composition used to be realtime, but since v22.4 and now again in v23 playback is just about 2 or 3 fps. If I roll back to v22.3 playback is fine again. It's on both my Intel iMac Pro machines the same. Same under a brand new MacOS user.  Cache cleaned, preferences deleted, no result. On my M1 Pro laptop same issue. I'd really like to start using the new v23, especially the track matte selection would be a huge help but I'm stuck in v22.3 now. Anyone experiencing this too?

Hi @Oskar Luijer,

I'm glad the issue seems to have solved itself! If you happen to experience this problem again, I would check and see what typeface the Character palette is showing. We've seen lots of intermittent performance issues related to bad or large typefaces which we are currently investigating.

Cheers,

Not sure what happened, but the issue seems to have solved itself today, playback of a single video layer in a composition is realtime again now. I'm happy!
