Plugins written for AE 6.5 compatible in new version of AE?

I had a custom plugin written in c++ for Adobe After Effects 5 and 6.5. Will it work in the new version of After Effects? Is there a compliler that can be used to make it compatible? If not, will the old code be helpful for making the new plugin? I am interested in hiring someone to get the plugin working? Is anyone interested?
