I have an upcoming job where i get 12 png files of biscuits to make a stop motion with (25 in total). They asked me to export as an png seq wich is clear. But they want also the biscuit and its shadow on a transparant background. Now my question is if i can precompose the sequence of the stop motion, make the shadow manually on the pre comp layer and render it out as an png sequence with alpha layer? Will it work? Thanks (Editor with limited ae knowledge)

Yes. Make sure you are exporting the alpha channel by choosing RGB+Alpha in the output module in the render queue.

It depend on what kind of shadow you need. If it is just a simple shadow under your object just use Drop Shadow effect and render your object without any other layers. Remember to rener RGB+A

Iam re-creating the shadow from the photo. so il duplicate layers and play with opacity, corner pin, noise etc.. I just wanna make sure that when im handing off the sequenc,. all the png's have that shadow.

Ok. So you should be able to render object with shadow on transparent background without any issues. Just in render settings chose png sequence and RGB+A.
