Question

PNG sequence doesnt export all frames

Hi Community.

I have a short 48 frame animation, (using 24 frames setup) using random transparent keyframes to make a flasing effect using Redgiants Collision form. When I playback the animation I can see the flasginf effect. But when I scroll through the timelime, or use the arrows to go through each frame, the canvas is empty, only the first 3 frames are visible. And to make matters more complicated, when I export the PNG sequence, from the 48 frames, only the first 2 have the graphics with the flashing effect.

How ever, If I turn off the Collision form, and there is no FX, and just a circle, everything gets exported correctly. So Why does Collision form cause this issue?

Thank you.

The issue may be related to GPU acceleration, memory management, or plugin-specific bugs. First, check your GPU acceleration settings under File > Project Settings > Video Rendering and Effects and toggle between Mercury Software Only and Mercury GPU Acceleration to see if this resolves the problem. Some Red Giant effects may not render properly with certain GPU settings.

Next, clear your cache and memory by going to Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache, as cached data can sometimes interfere with proper rendering. If the issue persists, it could be a known bug with the Collision plugin. Ensure both After Effects and the Red Giant plugins are up to date, as updates often fix rendering issues. You can also try using Adobe Media Encoder instead of After Effects' native export feature, as it sometimes handles complex effects more reliably.

Hello tate.

Thanks for your reply. I believe its a bug from the Maxon Redgiant plugin. All the other effects export correctly except for one. I did all the suggestions you specified, changing render engines, exporting with Adobe media encoder, but again only exports 2 or 4 frames, and each time different frames from the 100 frames Im trying to export. I aslo have 128GB of RAM which is enough of enough RAM, so my indication would be plugin bug.

Kind regards.

Thanks for writing in, Stefan Cargoski.

Sounds like it is related to the plug-in. Can you check if there's any update available for the plug-in?

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,
