Possible to Convert 3D Solid to Plane Mesh in Advanced 3D?

When using the new 3D Renderer, is it possible to convert a 3D Solid into a Plane Mesh?

Alternatively, is it possible to create 3D mesh layers via Script?

    Thanks for reaching out, Mike.

In After Effects version 26.0, you can create basic parametric shapes (including a plane) natively in After Effects. Here are more details: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/after-effects/using/working-with-parametric-meshes.html

Also, you can apply Substance material (.sbsar files)

Hope it helps. Let me know if there are any other questions.

    Thanks,

I’m diving into the new 3D features right now. I should have emphasized: Is it possible to replace 3D Solids with Plane Meshes in your timeline (since they both seem to live in 3D space the same way).

Basic Example: I’ve 3D tracked my scene and created a 3D Solid using the Camera Tracker. I think it would be nice to be able to convert that 3D Solid into a 3D Plane Mesh rather than having to replace it manually.

It would fit nicely in the >Create context menu when you right click on the layer.
