Premiere pro file downgraded, now Dynamic links crash AE file.

Recently with the AI masking bug needing all premeire pro files to be downgraded I've come to a big error.

So I can't open my origional premeire pro file, I look up the issue, find the downgrading software and downgrade the PP file, boom, the PP file now works good and well.

The problem now is when I open up the After effects file that had dynamic links connected to that inital premiere pro file. Since AE is trying to link the dynamic links in the bugged version of PP and is finding that the file can't be opened, it ends up either crashing or stuck on 100% of opening project.

This is a big problem for me as it'll mean that all my work in After effects will have to be done again and since I'm using it for work, it'll set me back massively.

Hopefully there's a solution.

Hi there,

Are you having this issue in the projects created in the latest version of Premiere Pro? For the existing projects with issue, try importing them in Premiere Pro into a new project instead of saving.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

Hi Nishu,

I've had to just work from an older save that didn't have the dynamic links. So I have access to my file, but still am unable to recover that lost work.

The issue is with opening After effects, not Premiere Pro. However, yes I'm on the latest version of Premiere Pro. I've tried importing the compositions into a new Premiere pro file and it has frozen when trying to import or crashing before getting to import.

In the end it's a bugged version that has now been patched, so if anyone has this same issue, the safest bet is to go back to an auto save that doesn't crash, and hope you didn't lose too much.

In Premiere can you right click on the linked comp and choose edit original? This may open it in AE and hopefully help solve the problem.

Hi Rob, thank you for the message.

The issue is that I've got the dynamic link in After effects, so in Premiere pro it's just a standard sequence.

So,
PP sequence -> AE Dynamic link -> AE looks for connection back to PP sequence (X) fails cause file cannot be opened.

But once again, that you for the response 🙂
