Premiere Pro markers no longer working in After Effects

I was having a similar issue with Premiere 15.2 and AE 18.2.1, some markers would get the comments copied over others would just have the empty markers as it happened to you.

After some tests I found a solution that worked for me so sharing it in case it's useful:

In Premiere select all (cmnd+a) footage from the sequence you'll import and go to "Markers" > "Clear All Markers." This didn't delete the sequence markers but the ones in the footage.

After doing this and updating the markers from the layer markers in AE as Warren showed in a screenshot, the markers appeared properly.

I think I figured out the bug.

Here's what an offsite post house sees, all of my embedded markers are intact.

Now, are you all ready to have your minds blown? If I create a new comp by clicking on create new composition in the project window and then drag the file onto the new comp, only some of the markers (sometimes none of the markers show up). See below as a reference (yes, this is the same exact file that the post house received).

Now, if I drag the exact same clip onto create new composition all of the markers show up as expected.

What the heck? It seems I've stumbled across some type of bug adobeaftereffects​ AfterEffects​ After Effects​

Is someone else able to recreate this issue and potential workaround on their system?

Yes, the metadata settings that write the marker data to the file are enabled on both ends.

It was happening on a machine where the application installation is done directly with installers per application rather than the Creative Cloud Desktop at an academic institution.  I suspect that that may have something to do with the markers not updating as expected.

The lab techs are aware of the issue, but as far as I am aware have not done any troubleahooting.  I only have stabdard user access, so I can’t try much on my own beyond checking preferences.

There's a preference setting that enables this access the Adobe video and audio applications, but you'd have to have disabled it.

There may be something in CC2018 that changed.  The other day I was creating markers in Premiere Pro on a clip that was already imported and placed in an After Effects Comp and was expecting the markers to update immediately and they didn't.  I had to import the clip into the AE project and replace it in the Comp to get the markers to show up as expected.

This doesn't answer your question, but yes, I've noticed something is a little off with this behavior.

Have you tried copying the clip and pasting it directly into an AE timeline? It works for me.
