"Preview" command only works while highlighting the composition panel

The "Preview" command, assigned to the space key shortcut, only works while highlighting (or having selected) the composition panel.

Now, I know that the apllication says that this is a panel-specific command, but I have confirmed that other people can use this shortcut no matter which panel they have selected.

Can somoene kindly help me figure out a way so that this command behaves as an application-wide command, so that I can play my previews without the need of selecting the composition panel ?
