Preview Panel does not show Composition

I recently opened up my AE and have been facing this problem, it's not like I installed it and always had it, it just seemed to have happened yesterday and I do not know why. I create a composition but I cannot see any of the layers I create or see the video file in the timeline. Please do help if possible!

Start by checking your hardware acceleration settings and the system's graphics settings. Update the driver if possible. also flush the disk caches.
