Preview screen keeps going black

My after effects screen keeps going black as soon as I start editing. The preview screen is already at the quarter setting and at half, purge being deleted every once in a while and it still isn't working. Please help me since my work is stuck and it needs to be solved at an urgent basis

Sorry about the issue. Can you share your system details (OS, CPU, RAM, GPU)? What type of media files (codec/ format, frame rate, frame size)?

    Try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site. If NVIDIA, do a clean installation of the latest Studio Driver (NOT the Game Driver).

      I can edit it for a little bit when I start the file again, but it still keeps going black. doesn't zoom out; doesn't show the edit; doesn't even render. the blue current time indicator also stops. there's a brief flicker on the indicator and the screen before it completely goes black.
