preview stopped working

 recently my preview has stopped working in after effects - it has been fine for ages. Today when I press play i just see a white screen - when I press stop all the assets on the screen appear.

I tried doing things like clearing the memory, restarting and so on - to no avail. A sound file plays fine. Other posts talk about drivers but I am not sure how to check them out tbh

I am running windows 11

What should I do?
