Preview window on after effects completely black

Question

Running AE 22.0.0 - When I create a new composition the preview window is blacked out and when importing any assets into the composition they dont appear visable. I've tried the usual clearing cache, purging ect. I've also ticked the 'eye' icon in the preview tab to ensure its active and ive uninstalled/reinstalled AE - Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

The usual stuff applies: check your hardware acceleration settings and update your system's graphics driver if possible. Switch to software-only rendering as a test. For anything beyond that more details would be required such as actual system info, types of footage you use and so on.
