Preview won't play when I insert a JPEG image on the timeline?

Been having trouble with my composition. It consists of 3d layers of rectangles to create a cube. The preview works fine until I insert a JPEG image, it just immediately pauses when I hit space. I tried to convert it to a PNG file in Photoshop and it worked fine. What could be causing this? I'm using Ver. 15.1.2 (Build 69).

It depends on the JPG and the pixel dimensions of the image. If it works as a PNG then the fastest solution to the problem is to use a PNG.  To know exactly what is going on with your JPEG file we have to have some details.
