Problem with auto keyframing position

Hello,

Sometimes I incur in an issue. It has now reached a point that it bothers me too much. So I ask to please help me understand:

Only sometimes (very sparingly) if, in between 2 keyframes, I alter the keyed position of the layer, this results not in a new keyframe at the playhead position, but rather it modifies the PREVIOUS keyframe in the time line.

The auto keyframe feature does not influence the above behavior.

Any idea?

It looks like a stupid question, but it makes me waste a lot of time.

Thanks

Thanks for sharing the screen recording. Looks like you're editing the motion path as anticipated by @thepixelsmith. Do not grab the anchor point to move the object. Try grabbing from nearby the anchor point.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,
Nishu

Thank sounds unusual.

How are you altering the keyed position of the layer? Are you dragging the layer around? Or are you editing the motion path?

Can you make a screen recording? I would love to see how this interaction works.

I think I kind of understand now what is going on.

I usually click and drag the layer to its new position and get the auto keyframe. But when I work with Hold keyframes what I am actually dragging is the actual (so basically the last one!) keyframe. For this reason, it doesn't create a new keyframe, even with the auto key on.

Quite annoying for my workflow, because I have all the time to manually insrt the new keyframe and then proceed with the re position.

Any workaround?

Thanks for your interest anyway
