Problem with CC bend

I am following a tutorial and my bend is behaving strangely. I set the start and end to receive the desired effect and I set the rotation with keyframes, when the shape turns, it breaks completely and I cannot use the bend as I would like. I noticed that the start does not follow the shape and stays in the same place. How can I fix this, and why doesn't the Grow bounds work?

Try pre-composing the bending part of the animation with no rotation in a nested Comp and then applying the rotation in the containing Comp.

Grow Bounds usually needs to be applied first or at least before an effect that needs the additional bounds.  Try dragging it to the top of the effects stack in the Effect Controls or in the Timeline so that it's the first effect.  Another approach to increasing the bounds of a source footage item is to pre-compose it in its own Composition with larger dimensions.  Then use that Comp in other Comps.
