Question

Problem with CC Glass

I’ve been using CC Glass in some texts, and it was working fine until I added the effect to… just another composition with texts. It doesn’t make much sense, I know.

The compositions are basically copies of each other, just with other text content, and I’ve checked the Bump Map, and each layer is using its respective map.

I’ve tried applying the CC Glass effect to each individual character (that is inside the composition), and it does work. But it also changes a little bit my animation, which I didn’t want to happen.

The strangest part: when I render the video, the accent in the ‘é’ changes in the middle of the animation?? And the CC Glass is only applied to part of the layer???

I’m attaching the video and the file, for reference. I thank in advance if anyone helps me figure it out.

    Hi @clara.p,
    Thanks for the question. That looks pretty strange. First thing I’d try is pre-composing the text layer before applying CC Glass to it.

    Also, could you share:

    * AE version

    * OS

    * and whether this happens in both preview and final render?

    I’m wondering if this may be some kind of text/rasterization edge case.
    Please try that troubleshooting step. If it doesn't work, I hope we can steer you down the right path with just a big more info. I hope we can help.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hello, Kevin!

    I’ve pre-composed the text layer, as you said! So, I have a composition only made by animated text and a null object to change its position. The text has some effects (such as color fill and I’ve applied layer’s styles too). But... So do the text in which the CC Glass *is* working.

    That is the strangest part. I have two pre-comps with text. One works fine when I apply the CC Glass! The other not. Then, yesterday, while I was trying to make this work, this one pre-comp, the problematic one, worked when I enabled the Continuous Rasterization button. I thought…. well…. that I just needed to do this to the next layer I would create, if it happens to have the same problem……. surprise, didn't work. With or without the Continuous Rasterization. And it is only another pre-comp text just like the others. 😩

    And yes, it happens both in the preview and in the final render. I’ve purged the cache when I noticed the issue, thinking it could be it. But nothing changed.

    I’m using the 26.2.1 version at my office PC (one of those new Vaio notebooks), which is a Windows 11:
    Processador    12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12650H (2.30 GHz)
    RAM instalada    32,0 GB (utilizável: 31,7 GB)

    It also has a GPU, a rtx 4060 if I’m not mistaken.

    Thanks in advance!
