Problem with TIFF transparency in After Effect

I have a problem with some TIFF files appearing with background even though they are saved as transparent when opened in After Effect.

 

I recently opened an older project from After Effect 2020 with some TIFF files in it. When I did the project, all the TIFFs were with a transparent background.
When I now open the project in AE 2021, most TIFF files are without transparent background. 

 

Is this a bug in the new version or can it be a setting there
is set incorrectly? Or is it something completely different?

Start by checking the footage interpretation. Otherwise more info is required about the exact specs and types of TIFF, how they were created and so on. There's literally over 1000 TIFF versions and flavors and just changing a seemingly trivial setting can have weird effects just like changing some processing code may handle files differently. Of course also check the files in Photoshop and re-save them if necessary.

I have found that all the TIFF files that are a problem are made in Photoshop CS3. So think it might be AE who can't read a setting from such an old version of PS.

It's just funny that AE 2020 could read these files and that AE 2021 cannot.
