Problems Importing Illustrator Files

I'm having a new issue importing illustrator assests into After Effects.  Typically, within Illustrator, I will save individual elements I plan to use in After Effects to my library.  I'm normally able to then just go into After Effects, open my library and drag in whatever I want to use.  I'm still able to do this, however; the illustrator asset does not appear in the composition.  The bounding box for the imported asset appears, but the illustraton itself doesn't show up.  I have attached a screenshot.  You can see what the the asset is supposed to look like in the Library panel to the right (library asset named "Chair Main").  You can see that it imported and is present in my composition, but I can only see the bounding box around it.  I'm still relatively new, so hopefully this is just something easy I'm missing, but I have used this method on other projects and never had this issue.

Check the AI file and make sure, that you have

a) one art board only and that

b) the graphic is on this art board and

c) the file is saved with PDF compatibility

Try to select this layer an go to Layer > Create > Create Shapes form Vector Layer. It si only to confirm if you can see the illustrator paths once converted to native shape layers inside AE. Another question, do you have any kind of effect or blend mode applied to these elements in Adobe Illustrator?

The paths, as well as the color, appears once converted.  Oddly enough, the specfic AI asset from my library I referenced in my post, now appears when I drag and drop from libraries.....when it clearly wasn't yesterday.  The problem still exists with some of the other library elements.  I really can't figure out what is going on here.  Also, nothing special was added to any of them within AI.
