Problems importing images to After Effects

Since the latest update I'm having an issue with importing images to after effects. Previously I could import jpegs, tiffs, .psd whatever I needed without issue. Now I no longer get the option to import it as anything other than 'footage'. 

Import as sequence is unchecked, but makes no difference. Is there something Im missing here? Or anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
